Wrestling

The Grand Canyon State Games and USA Wrestling have formed a partnership whereby the Two Grand Canyon State Games wrestling meets in 2008 will now become USA wrestling sanctioned competitions. A USA Wrestling membership card will be needed to compete and can be purchased at any USA Wrestling tournament throughout the year. The two meet dates for 2008 will be Saturday, April 26, 2008 & Saturday, May 31, 2008 both at the great facilities at Chandler High School in Chandler.

LOCATION: Chandler High School - Saturday April 26, 2008.

IN ADDITION: ALL Competitors qualify for the State Games of the West Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 24-27, 2008. Eight thousand athletes from thirteen Western States, competing for State pride & medals, are expected at venues such as the US Air Force Academy & the US Olympic Training

ENTRY FEES: $20 per athlete. (All athletes receive a free T-Shirt).

ENTRY DEADLINE: Early Registration (postmarked on or before) April 12, 2008. Late entry accepted up to and on the day of competition. Entries taken from 7-8:30am on site at Chandler HS.

DIVISIONS: Some Divisions may need to be combined.

Bantam thru Schoolboys, 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. / Cadets, Juniors, Open, and Veteran 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. *A USA Wrestling membership Card is required for this meet - it can be purchased on-site for $30.

STYLE OF WRESTLING: Folkstyle (High School Rules).

The top finisher (gold medal winner) in the Winter Games in each division will be awarded free entry into that sport if offered in the International Summer Games.
