Softball
Due to the June calendar and to avoid Father’s Day, the entire 2008 Grand Canyon State Games sports festival has landed close to the same weekend as the City of Phoenix’s Firecracker Softball Competition. In the best interest of all athletes, the Grand Canyon State Games and the City of Phoenix have mutually agreed toavoid any conflict to competitors. In 2008, the Grand Canyon State Games would like to direct all our loyal Softball athletes that have played in previous State Games Softball competitions to consider competing in the Fire Cracker Softball event in appropriate divisions. We consider this a viable option, as this event is a very well-run and respected Softball tournament.
IN ADDITION: By participating all competitors automatically qualify for the State Games of the West
Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 24-27, 2008. The event will feature approximately 8,000
athletes from thirteen Western States competing for State pride & medals. Competition will be held at venues
such as the US Air Force Academy & the US Olympic Training Center.
FIRE CRACKER SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: June 27, 28,29 2008.
SOFTBALL SITES: Papago Sports Complex, Rose Mofford Softball Complex & Desert West Sports Complex.
COST: Youth Fast Pitch $250 before June 6th, $275 June 9-12th. Adult Men’s, Women’s Co-Ed & Seniors $225
before June 6th, $250 June 9-12, 2008.
